French electric bikes : choose local expertise

French electric bikes : choose local expertise
What is meant by a French electric bike ?
Electric bikes certified "Origine France Garantie"
In concrete terms, electric bicycles or electrically assisted bicycles (EABs) that have the "Origine France Garantie" certification are based on 2 fundamental criteria :
- At least 50 % of the unit cost price is achieved in France.
More simply, at least half of the cost of manufacturing the product must come from France. Thus, if a bicycle costs 1 000€ to produce, at least 500 € must correspond to french work, parts or raw materials.
- The essential characteristics of the product are obtained in France.
In other words, what really defines the product (its assembly, its design, the specific know-how) must be made on French territory.
Unlike "Made in France" electric bikes, the "Origine France Garantie" certification assures users that a certified electric bike is not only "finished" in France, but that it derives its value and identity from its French production (frame, motor, wheels, etc.).
However, at Ultima Mobility, we have not only stopped at obtaining this certification (at least 50%), we have also chosen to manufacture 90% of our electric bikes in France, in order to guarantee this quality and local know-how on a daily basis.
The advantages of local expertise in e-bikes
Guaranteed quality and durability
French manufacturers often emphasize the precision of the assembly, the robustness of the parts and therefore the reliability and safety of their electric bike ranges . And it's true, when you pedal every day, you prefer your bike to hold up.
It's more convenient, more reliable, and it provides a better experience for users.
Don't you find it reassuring to know that someone has taken the time to build your daily means of transport a few kilometers from your home rather than on the other side of the world ?
Repair rather than throw away
Buying locally also means making the maintenance of your bike much simpler and thus benefiting from a better service. Parts available faster, repairers who know the brand, which means; Fewer problems, less waiting and above all fewer disposable parts.
Have you ever found yourself with a broken device, impossible to repair, because of its origin ? With an electric bike made in France, this happens much less often !
Contributing to the local economy and supporting employment
Behind every bike, there are technicians, engineers, assemblers and sometimes even craftsmen. Choosing a local e-bike is not only about buying a practical product, it is also about supporting these local jobs and above all preserving these skills that could be doomed to disappear.
The ecological advantages of electrically assisted bicycles made in France
Reduced carbon footprint : fewer journeys, less CO2
When you make a bike in France, it doesn't need to travel thousands of kilometers in a cargo ship before arriving at your home.
Result ? A much lower carbon footprint, simplified delivery, enhanced traceability.
That's not all ! By choosing a French e-bike, you are not only reducing your own emissions when riding in the city, but also those used during production. And if you are very concerned about the environment, opt for a reconditioned electric bike.
How to choose your French electric bike ?
In reality, the choice is not as obvious as it may seem and varies a lot depending on your profile. It is even less so if you want it to be absolutely made in France.
But we can help you find the right one for you !
Define your needs first
Ask yourself a simple question : "What am I going to do with this bike ?"
- To go to work.
- For weekend walks (with family, friends, in the city).
- To pick up your children from school.
- For more sporty practices.
- For short or long distances.
Whatever your situation, your use should dictate your choice and not the other way around.
Check the battery life
Who would want to break down halfway through ? Not you, so remember to estimate your average journeys !
This will help you choose the best option for you : a battery with a classic range or a more powerful battery for longer trips.
Also choose batteries, assembled or manufactured in France or Europe: they will often be more reliable and more easily replaceable.
Think about comfort and safety
Like a classic bike, a motorcycle, a scooter or a car, an electrically assisted bike should make you want to be used every day ? So ask yourself : "Do I feel good on it, is it really comfortable ?"
Think about all the little details that can change your daily life (equipment included, adjustable parts or parts adapted to your morphology, high-performance brakes, etc.).
Choose a committed french brand
Not all bikes are created equal, so look beyond a simple logo :
- Is the brand transparent about the real part of its manufacture in France (components, assembly) ?
- Is there a network of repairers near you ?
- Do they offer real customer care and good after-sales service ?
And why ? Because in the end, a french electric bike is also a local service.
Price and value for money
We're not going to lie to each other : a locally made electric bike will tend to be more expensive than an imported model. But is that really what you should be focusing on ? Well, not quite !
A local electric bike is the result of know-how, better-sourced materials and more responsible assembly, as mentioned earlier, so you pay for the transparency and sustainability of these local models.
An imported electric bike is often more economical to buy, but over several years, is it really that profitable in the end ? A french bike, on the other hand, is better designed, more easily repairable and often lasts longer.
So, it's better to invest in a reliable model than to multiply repairs because in the end, it's a real investment in time!
In other words, ask yourself the right questions, try several models and above all, opt for the one that constantly makes you want to pedal ! And if you're looking for an e-bike that ticks all the boxes, why not come and test one of our ranges directly in store ?
